Founded on the belief that fitness transforms lives, Calta's Fitness has been a cornerstone of the Tampa community for over four decades. What started as a family passion has grown into a welcoming home for athletes, beginners, and everyone in between. Three generations of the Calta family have dedicated themselves to one mission: helping Tampa get stronger, healthier, and more confident — together.
1978 — THE ROOTS
The Calta family opens their first fitness gym. What started as a small operation in Pennsylvania — just a handful of equipment — eventually makes its way to Florida. The foundation is set.
1991 — FITNESS CENTERS BEGIN
Frank Calta opens the family's first fitness center in Tampa. What started as a small gym grows into something bigger — a real presence in the Tampa fitness community. The Calta name starts to mean something.
THE TARVER YEARS
Antonio Tarver — five-time world champion — trains out of the Calta gyms. Jimmy Williams, Tarver's longtime trainer, mentors Trent directly. The gyms become a legitimate training ground for elite boxing in Tampa. Fighters, coaches, and champions come through the doors.
THE HARD YEARS
Life happens. The gyms are sold off one by one — not closed, sold — through circumstances no one could fully control. The name goes quiet. But the knowledge, the discipline, and the legacy stay in the family.
2026 — CALTA'S FIT BOX
Trent comes back. Same family. Same roots. A new home at 13539 N Florida Ave. The grand opening is still coming — and this time, it's built to last.
